Tuning In (In-class writing assignment)

Hi! Here are the instructions for the in-class writing assignment:

Play this file (about ~3 min long).

While you listen, take notes on the following:

...what you hear in the foreground / background
...the range of a sound. Is it high or low?
...any rhythmic, melodic, or harmonic elements
...the texture and timbre of the sounds
...how the sounds interact with each other
…what comes up for you (memories, associations, feelings)

We'll then describe how to use this as a jumping off point for writing a song.
