- Tuesdays and Fridays, 10:30a - 11:45a (PT)
- January 28th, 31st; February 4th, 7th, 11th, 14th, 18th, 21st.
- Classes are recorded and sent out after class. You do not have to be able to attend every class live to sign up.
This course is for songwriters or instrumentalists who want to improve their singing skills! We will cover a wide range of topics including intuitive harmonizing, healthy vocal technique, and tools to both define and deepen your vocal confidence and comfortability.
Topics covered:
- Vocal health - In this course we will discuss relaxed singing technique and ways to avoid burnout, all without compromising your artistry. Each class will begin with a unique warmup for your singing practice.
- Physical aspects of the voice - Developing an awareness of basic vocal anatomy to help us adjust as our voice is constantly evolving.
- Discovering your range and break - Together we’ll explore how to find your personal range and how to navigate it.
- Harmony singing - How to harmonize intuitively from a feeling based approach (no music theory involved!)
- Vocal style - Honing your style and versatility, while finding comfort in your natural voice.
Laura Jean Anderson, born in Olympia, Washington and now residing in Los-Angeles, is a multi-instrumentalist, writer, producer & songwriter. She uses music as a vessel to speak up about important issues, fighting for feminism & human rights through her songs. She believes the personal is political. Laura Jean has garnered support from NPR, Bernie Sanders, Rolling Stone, Noisey, Salon, Fader, amongst others. Her shows across Los Angeles have established her as a staple of the LA music scene, garnering support from KCRW and LA Weekly proclaiming her music as a “Timeless sound…a mysterious conception that sounds as it’s from another era.”
